Terms of Service and Disclaimers
Last updated: 30 October 2026
1. About these Terms and who we are
1.1 TechnoLaw-G (the "Platform") is operated by Neoneural-AI Private Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company incorporated in India (CIN U62011WB2025PTC283507) with its registered office at Duke Garden, FL No. G1D BL, Victoria, RB-29 V.I.P. Road, Raghunathpur, D B Nagar, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal 700059.
1.2 By accessing or using the Platform you agree to these Terms of Service and Disclaimers ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1.3 "Your Data" means everything you give us or create while using the Platform, including profile details, identity documents, search queries, case documents, drafts, messages and calendar entries.
1.4 Who is who. In these Terms:
- "advocate" means a person who holds a law degree and is enrolled with a State Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961, and who is therefore entitled to appear for clients in court;
- "lawyer" means a person who holds a law degree but is not enrolled as an advocate, and who is therefore not entitled to appear for clients in court;
- "lawyers/advocates" means lawyers and advocates together, and anything said about "lawyers/advocates" applies to both unless we say otherwise; and
- "paralegal" and "citizen/consumer" mean a user who registers on the Platform as a paralegal or a consumer, respectively, and "student" means a user who registers as a law student.
1.5 In short:
- We are a technology company, not a law firm. Nothing on the Platform is legal advice.
- AI can be wrong. Check every result against the original source before you rely on it.
- Your data is stored mainly in India. Annex A lists every provider that handles it and where.
- We do not sell your data or share it for others' own purposes.
- We may use Your Data to improve our AI unless you switch this off in Profile → Privacy & Security → Data Privacy.
- Identity documents are kept in private storage, and only our verification staff can open them.
2. Eligibility and your account
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering a binding contract under Indian law. The Platform is not intended for children. When you register, you confirm, by ticking a box, that you are 18 or older.
2.2 You agree to give accurate, current and complete information when you register, and to keep it up to date. You must not impersonate another person.
2.3 You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.
2.4 If you register as an advocate, you confirm that you are enrolled with a State Bar Council and entitled to practise. If you register as a lawyer, you must not present yourself as an advocate or offer to appear for anyone in court. Lawyers and advocates alike remain responsible for complying with the Advocates Act, 1961 and the Bar Council of India Rules in the way they use the Platform. If you register as a law student, you confirm that you are currently enrolled in a law degree course.
3. What the Platform offers
3.1 The Platform provides technology tools, including:
- (a) a directory to search for lawyers/advocates and paralegals;
- (b) AI-powered search over legal sources, including Know Your Rights, which lets you search in plain language and returns relevant judgments with their citations and outcomes;
- (c) automated document drafting tools;
- (d) tools to store and manage case-related documents that you upload;
- (e) blog content written by lawyers/advocates;
- (f) a searchable library of central bare Acts, taken from the Government of India's India Code website (Section 8A);
- (g) a networking feature that lets users find each other, send messages, see each other's recurring calendars and see cases they share (Section 8B);
- (h) a workflow generator with ready-made workflows, for example under the CPC and the CrPC, and the ability to create your own workflows and attach them to cases (Section 8A);
- (i) optional sync of your TechnoLaw-G calendar with the calendar of a Google account you choose (Section 8C);
- (j) a directory of courts arranged by State and District (Section 8A);
- (k) an internship module for students and lawyers/advocates (Section 8D);
- (l) requests for a call with a lawyer/advocate, appointment booking and, when available, in-app audio calls (Section 8E);
- (m) SOS Video, a paid feature for urgent video consultations with an available advocate, when available;
- (n) ratings of lawyers/advocates on completed cases, kept internally and visible to lawyers/advocates (Section 8E);
- (o) paid subscriptions and credits for some features (Section 16); and
- (p) noticeboard where the admin can share important announcements, updates, and highlighted opportunities.
3.2 Trial status. Some features, including Know Your Rights, are in trial. They may be incomplete, may change, and may be limited to certain courts or areas of law. Coverage grows over time, so do not assume that a set of results is complete.
3.3 We do not promise that the Platform will be available at all times or without interruption.
4. Not legal advice
TechnoLaw-G is a technology service. It is not a law firm, does not practise law, does not give legal advice and does not represent anyone in any matter.
4.1 Information only. Search results, AI-generated answers, drafted documents and blog posts are general information. We do not review your particular situation, and nothing is tailored to your circumstances.
4.2 No advocate-client relationship. Using the Platform, including contacting an advocate listed on it, does not create an advocate-client relationship between you and us. That relationship exists only if you directly engage an advocate on their own terms, and it is between you and that advocate.
4.3 Get professional advice. Consult an enrolled advocate before you act on anything you find here. Limitation periods and other deadlines can be short, and the Platform does not track or warn you about them.
4.4 No substitute for research. The Platform is a preliminary tool. It does not replace research done by a qualified professional.
5. Directory services
5.1 Listings. The directory ("Find a Lawyer") lists verified advocates during their free period or while they have a paid subscription (Section 16.6), using information they gave us or that is publicly available. Before we approve an advocate, our staff review the identity document and the Bar Council or AIBE certificate they upload, and we run the checks in Section 10. This review is limited. Approval does not mean that we endorse or guarantee the qualifications, credentials, competence or services of any listed professional.
5.2 Correction and removal. A listed professional can ask us to correct or remove their listing at any time, using the contact in Section 23.
5.3 How results are ordered; no endorsement or advertisement. Directory results are matched to the criteria you enter. When you request a call (Section 8E), we choose which lawyers/advocates to contact using their distance from you, specialization, how many active cases they have and their fee level. Being listed needs a subscription (Section 5.1), but no one can pay for a higher position, and the order of results is not an endorsement. A listing is not an advertisement or solicitation by the professional or by us.
5.4 Check before you engage. You are solely responsible for checking a professional's enrolment with the Bar Council of India or the relevant State Bar Council, their certificate of practice, their disciplinary history and their suitability for your matter. A lawyer who is not enrolled as an advocate cannot appear for you in court.
5.5 Independent professionals. Listed professionals run their own practices. We are not a party to any engagement between you and them, and we are not responsible for their conduct, advice, fees or services.
5.6 Professional rules. Listed advocates remain responsible for complying with the Advocates Act, 1961 and the Bar Council of India Rules, including the rules on advertising and solicitation.
6. AI-powered search (including Know Your Rights)
6.1 How it works. You search in plain language, and the Platform returns relevant judgments with citations and outcomes. To match your query to cases, a third-party AI service converts the text of your query into a numerical representation (an "embedding"). Only the query text is sent for this. See Section 11 and Annex A.
6.2 Results can be wrong. Our AI may misread legal concepts, miss relevant judgments, show outdated or incomplete information, state an outcome incorrectly, or produce content that is inaccurate or made up. Results are provided "as is", without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or reliability.
6.3 Verify before you rely on anything, especially before filing. Check every citation, quotation and outcome against the official report or the court's own website, and read the full judgment. Courts in several countries have sanctioned lawyers who filed AI-generated citations that did not exist. You alone are responsible for what you file, send or rely on.
6.4 The law changes. For example, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaced the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act with effect from 1 July 2024. Results may cite repealed laws or old section numbers, so check that the law you rely on is current.
6.5 Sources and coverage. Our sources include publicly available court records. Coverage is limited, and we do not promise it is complete. Third-party compilations, headnotes and editorial text may be protected by copyright, and nothing in these Terms gives you rights in them.
7. Automated document drafting
7.1 Generic templates. The drafting tools produce documents from templates and the information you enter. They are not tailored to your situation, and no advocate has reviewed them for you.
7.2 May contain errors. Generated documents may contain errors or omissions, or provisions that are unsuitable, unenforceable or contrary to law.
7.3 Have an advocate review before you use a document. Do not sign, file, stamp or register a generated document without independent advice from an enrolled advocate. Stamp duty, registration and other formalities differ between states, and you are responsible for meeting them.
7.4 Your inputs matter. The quality of a document depends on the information you give. We cannot check it, and we are not responsible for documents built on incorrect or incomplete information.
8. Blog content
8.1 Blog posts are written by legal professionals for general education. They are not legal advice for your situation.
8.2 Views in a post are the author's own. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of their posts, and we do not vouch for them.
8.3 Reading or commenting on a post does not create an advocate-client relationship with its author. Do not send confidential information to an author through comments or contact forms.
8.4 Laws change often. Check the current status of any law a post mentions.
8A. Legal reference material and workflows
8A.1 Central Acts library. The Platform includes a searchable library of central bare Acts, currently 618 in number. The texts are taken from the Government of India's India Code website (https://indiacode.gov.in). We claim no ownership of the text of Acts. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of India, and the library is not an official source. If our copy differs from India Code, India Code is the authority, so check it to be sure.
8A.2 It may be out of date. Laws are amended, repealed and replaced. We run checks against India Code from time to time to look for updates, but we do not promise that the library is complete, accurate or current. To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss caused by out-of-date or incorrect text. Always check the official version on India Code, or in the Gazette of India, before you rely on a law. The library covers central Acts only. It does not include State laws or State amendments to central Acts, and we are not responsible for them.
8A.3 Workflows. The Platform includes ready-made workflows for common court procedures, for example under the CPC and the CrPC. They are general guides only, and they may contain errors or not reflect the latest law. To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for mistakes in them. You may also create your own workflows and attach them to cases. Those workflows are Your Data and your responsibility.
8A.4 Court directory. The Platform includes a directory of courts arranged by State, District and court complex. The court details come from ecourtsindia.com, a third-party website, and are not an official court record. Courts are created, merged and renamed, so check details with the court or its official website before you rely on them, for example before filing or travelling.
8A.5 Case updates. Case information and updates shown on the Platform, such as case status and hearing dates, are provided by eCourtsIndia (ecourtsindia.com), an independent third-party service that is not an official court source. When you refresh a case, we send its case identifier to eCourtsIndia to fetch the latest update. The information may be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and it is not an official record. Always confirm with the court's own records, the cause list or the official eCourts services before you act, and never rely on the Platform for hearing dates or deadlines. To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss caused by errors or delays in this data.
8B. Networking, messaging and shared calendars
8B.1 Finding other users. The Platform lets users find each other as follows:
- lawyers/advocates can search for other lawyers/advocates by name, email address or user ID;
- paralegals can search for other paralegals by name, email address or user ID; and
- a citizen can be found only by their user ID.
By registering as a lawyer/advocate or paralegal, you agree that other users of the same kind can find you by your name, email address or user ID.
8B.2 Messages. Users can send each other messages. Messages are not privileged or confidential in the legal sense (Section 11.9). Do not use messages to send spam, to harass anyone, or to solicit work in a way that breaks the Bar Council of India Rules. We do not use the content of your messages for AI Improvement.
8B.3 Calendars. Added users/friends in the “Legal Network” module can see your recurring calendar entries, and you can see theirs. They cannot see entries that you add and manage day to day.
8B.4 Shared cases. If you and another user are both assigned to a case, each of you can see that case. Assign another user to a case only if you are entitled to share its information with them. Your duty of confidentiality to your clients stays with you.
8B.5 Your responsibility. You are responsible for what you share through these features. We do not verify who a user says they are beyond the checks in Section 10, so confirm who you are dealing with before you share anything sensitive.
8C. Calendar sync with Google
8C.1 You may choose to sync your TechnoLaw-G calendar with the calendar of a Google account that you pick. Nothing syncs unless you connect it.
8C.2 When you connect, Google asks you to give us permission. We then send the events you choose to sync to your Google account, and Google handles them under its own terms and privacy policy. We use only the access we need to do the sync.
8C.3 You can disconnect at any time in Settings or in your Google Account permissions, and we stop syncing when you do. Events already copied to Google stay there until you delete them.
8C.4 Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy.
8D. Internships
8D.1 What it is. The internship module lets lawyers/advocates post internship opportunities and lets students find them. Students get free access to this module.
8D.2 How it works. Students can browse the posted opportunities and can also ask our administrators to help find one. Lawyers/advocates can post opportunities and can also ask our administrators to find suitable students.
8D.3 We only connect people. We are not the employer, host or agent of any student or lawyer/advocate. We do not promise that an opportunity is genuine, paid, suitable or lawful, or that any student will be selected. Duration, stipend, work and conduct are agreed directly between the student and the lawyer/advocate, who must follow the Bar Council of India Rules and other applicable law. Check the other side before you agree.
8D.4 Your details. Our administrators can see the information you submit so that they can help you. If you are a student, we share your profile details with a lawyer/advocate only when you apply, or when you agree to a match an administrator suggests.
8D.5 Student status. When you register as a law student, you must upload your College ID and give your expected graduation month within 3 days. Until you do, your account is limited to your profile. Free student access ends after your graduation month, and we may disable a student account if the College ID or graduation month is wrong.
8D.6 Postings. A posting must be accurate and lawful, and must not be misleading or discriminatory.
8E. Calls, appointments and ratings
8E.1 Call requests and calls. A citizen can ask to speak to a lawyer/advocate. We send the request to suitable lawyers/advocates (Section 5.3), and when one accepts, you can talk to the lawyer/advocate through our “Legal Network” module or contact them directly. In-app audio call is an upcoming feature. You can also book appointments in the calendar of a lawyer/advocate.
8E.2 What we share. When you send a call request or book an appointment, we share your name, phone number and the details you enter with the lawyers/advocates who receive it, so that they can respond to you.
8E.3 We only connect you. Any advice comes from the lawyer/advocate, not from us (Sections 4.2 and 5.5). We do not promise that a lawyer/advocate will accept a request, be available at a given time, or achieve any result. Calls may use credits from your wallet, as shown in the app (Section 16).
8E.4 Ratings. After a case, the citizen can rate the lawyer/advocate who handled it. Ratings must be honest and based on your own experience, and must not be defamatory or misleading (Section 15). We may remove ratings that break these Terms.
8E.5 Location. To find lawyers/advocates near you, we use the location you share with us and the available address that lawyers/advocates give us. Addresses and locations are converted to map coordinates, and back, using Geoapify, and maps are shown using Google Maps.
9. Your content and your responsibilities
9.1 Ownership. You keep ownership of Your Data.
9.2 Right to submit. You confirm that you have the right to submit Your Data and to let us process it as these Terms describe, including any consent needed from other people whose information it contains, and that it is accurate.
9.3 Other people's information and client confidentiality. Do not upload personal information about other people, such as clients, parties or witnesses, unless you are authorised to do so. If you are an advocate, your duties of confidentiality and privilege stay with you, and we recommend removing names and identifying details wherever you can. Do not upload material that a court has ordered must not be disclosed.
9.4 Prohibited uses. You agree not to:
- (a) use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms;
- (b) try to gain unauthorised access to the Platform, or probe or bypass its security;
- (c) interfere with or disrupt the Platform, its servers or its networks;
- (d) copy, resell or exploit any part of the Platform without our written permission;
- (e) scrape, bulk-extract or use automated tools to access the Platform without our written permission;
- (f) give false or misleading information, or upload another person's identity document or impersonate them;
- (g) upload unlawful, defamatory, obscene or infringing material, or malware;
- (h) use results or documents from the Platform to mislead a court or authority; or
- (i) reverse-engineer our technology or use its outputs to build a competing AI model.
10. Identity verification
10.1 What we ask for. To keep the Platform trustworthy, we ask for identity documents. Advocates must upload a Government ID and a Bar Council certificate or AIBE certificate within 7 days of registering. Lawyers must upload a Government ID and their law degree within 7 days of registering. Law students must upload a College ID within 3 days (Section 8D.5). Citizens and paralegals may be asked to upload a Government ID, and paralegals may upload a paralegal certificate. We ask citizens for a Government ID so that we know who is using the Platform and dealing with other users, to protect users from exploitation, and to stop one person from opening several free accounts. If the required documents are not uploaded in time, the account is limited to its profile until they are.
This does not apply to advocates with a paid subscription: they keep the features they paid for, but until they are verified they cannot connect with other users through the Platform (including “Legal Network”), are not shown in “Find a Lawyer”, and do not get the free period in Section 16.3.
10.2 How we check it. Our staff review the documents. For Bar Council certificates, enrolment letters, law degrees and AIBE certificates, we use Google's text-recognition (OCR) service to read the name and any enrolment number, certificate of practice number or AIBE roll number, and compare the name with the name on your profile. We use identity documents only for verification and fraud prevention. We never use them to train AI (Section 12).
10.3 Duplicate checks. To stop one person opening several accounts, we keep a digital fingerprint of each identity document. We refuse a document that is already registered to another active account. We flag for our staff any document that looks like another account's document, and any enrolment or certificate of practice number already used by another advocate. Our staff can see which account the match is with.
10.4 Changes after approval. If an approved advocate changes their name or identity documents, the account goes back for review. The free period in Section 16.3 still counts from the first approval.
10.5 Who can see your documents. Identity documents are kept in private storage. Only our staff who handle verification can open them, and internship administrators can open only law students' College IDs. Each time, they get a link that works for a few minutes, and we log every view. You can open your own documents from your profile.
10.6 What to upload. Upload only what we ask for. Please cover or mask any ID number we do not need before uploading, for example all but the last four digits of an Aadhaar number.
10.7 Storage and retention. Your identity documents are stored as described in Annex A. We keep them while your account exists, including after you close it, for verification, fraud prevention (such as the duplicate checks in Section 10.3) and to meet legal obligations. Documents that you replace, or that we reject, may be kept for the same purposes. You can ask us to erase your documents (Section 11.8), and we will do so unless we need to keep them for these purposes or the law requires us to keep them.
10.8 If verification fails, we may limit some features or reject the account, and we may tell you why.
11. Privacy, data storage and service providers
11.1 Privacy Policy. This section summarises how we handle Your Data. Our Privacy Policy gives full details, including your rights. We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules.
11.2 What we collect. Account and profile details, identity documents, search queries, case documents and drafts you upload, messages, calendar entries, internship postings and applications, call requests, appointments and ratings, your location if you share it, payment and wallet records, and the usage and device information needed to run the Platform. We collect only what we need for the purposes below.
11.3 Why we use it. To provide the Platform, verify identity, keep the Platform secure, prevent fraud, give support, meet legal obligations and, unless you switch it off, for AI Improvement (Section 12).
11.4 Where Your Data is stored and processed.
- Your profile, account and other text data are stored in a database hosted in Mumbai, India.
- Our servers and APIs run on Google Cloud in Mumbai, India.
- Identity documents are stored in private storage at Cloudflare in Asia. Case documents are stored on Cloudflare's storage and content delivery network in Asia; anyone who has the link to a case document can open it, so share links with care. Cloudflare may hold files at locations outside India.
- The text of your search queries is sent to an AI service provider to be converted into embeddings. This provider processes it outside India, in the United States. Your identity documents and case documents are not sent to it.
- Images of Bar Council certificates, enrolment letters, law degrees and AIBE certificates are processed by Google's OCR service for verification. This service may process them outside India.
- When you refresh a case, we send its case identifier (such as the case number) to eCourtsIndia, a third-party service, to fetch the latest update.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account details.
- Emails, including sign-up codes and notifications, are sent through Zoho ZeptoMail in India.
- Notifications to our mobile app are sent through Google Firebase.
- Addresses and shared locations are converted to map coordinates, and back, by Geoapify in the European Union. Maps are shown using Google Maps.
Annex A lists each provider and what it does.
11.5 Processing outside India. Where processing happens outside India, we do it only as Indian law permits, and our providers' service terms require them to protect Your Data and to use it only to provide their services to us.
11.6 Security. We use reasonable security safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that Your Data will never be accessed without authorisation. If a personal data breach affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
11.7 Retention and deletion. We keep Your Data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires. When you close your account, we deactivate it, but we may keep Your Data for the purposes above, including fraud prevention and meeting legal obligations. You can ask us to erase Your Data (Section 11.8).
11.8 Your rights. You can ask us to give you a summary of your personal data, correct or complete it, erase it, or withdraw your consent, and you can nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Use the contact in Section 23. If we do not resolve your complaint, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
11.9 No privilege. Submitting information to the Platform does not make it privileged or confidential in the legal sense, and the Platform is not a way to give confidential instructions to an advocate. Do not submit confidential or privileged material unless you are entitled to.
11.10 Children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. AI and your data
12.1 Your choice about AI Improvement. We may use Your Data to train, fine-tune or evaluate our own AI models ("AI Improvement"). The setting "User data for training models" is on ("Yes") by default. You can switch it off at any time in Profile → Privacy & Security → Data Privacy, and the Platform works fully with it switched off.
12.2 What counts as Your Data here. Your search queries, uploaded documents, drafts and feedback. It does not include the public legal sources we index. Processing your query to give you results is part of running the Platform and is not AI Improvement.
12.3 If you switch it off. We do not use Your Data for AI Improvement. We use it only to run, secure and support the Platform and to meet legal obligations.
12.4 What switching it off does. Turning the setting off takes effect from that point. We will not use Your Data in future training, and we will remove it from our training datasets where reasonably practicable. A model that has already been trained cannot be reversed.
12.5 Identity documents are excluded. We never use identity documents for AI Improvement, whatever your settings.
12.6 Our AI provider. The text of your search query is sent to a third-party AI provider only to be converted into an embedding for matching.
13. We do not share your data with third parties
13.1 We do not sell, rent or disclose your personal data to third parties for their own purposes, including advertising or AI training.
13.2 We share Your Data only:
- (a) with service providers who process it on our behalf under their service terms, which require them to keep it confidential and secure and to use it only to provide their services to us. They are listed in Annex A;
- (b) when required by law, a court order or a government authority;
- (c) with your consent;
- (d) where needed to prevent fraud, protect security, or protect our rights or those of others, and only as far as necessary;
- (e) to a successor if we are merged with or acquired by another company, and the successor must honour these commitments; or
- (f) to other users, as you direct or as the networking, shared-case, internship, call request and appointment features require (Sections 8B, 8D and 8E).
13.3 We may use statistics that cannot identify you.
13.4 If you are a listed professional, your listing details are shown publicly as set out in Section 5.
13.5 We will update Annex A if our providers change.
14. Intellectual property
14.1 Our rights. The Platform, including its software, AI technology, databases, content, design and trademarks (including "TechnoLaw-G"), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by law.
14.2 Your licence. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform for your own personal or professional use, in line with these Terms. You may not resell it or give others access to it.
14.3 Licence to Your Data. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process and display Your Data only to provide the Platform to you, as these Terms and your settings allow. This licence also covers AI Improvement unless you switch it off under Section 12.
14.4 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Platform, we may use them without obligation to you. This does not apply to Your Data.
14.5 Third-party content. We do not claim ownership of the text of Acts, judgments or other public legal sources. Third-party compilations, headnotes and editorial text may belong to others. Nothing here gives you rights in them.
15. Prohibited content, takedowns and copyright complaints
15.1 Content rules. You must not upload, share, store or post content, including ratings, that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, invasive of another person's privacy, harmful to children, deceptive or impersonating another person, or that infringes anyone's rights or contains malware.
15.2 Our rights. We may remove or disable content and suspend accounts that break these rules, and we act on court orders and government directions as the law requires. We may cooperate with law-enforcement agencies where the law requires.
15.3 Reporting. To report content, or to make a copyright complaint, write to our Grievance Officer (Section 23). Tell us what the content is, where it appears, and for a copyright complaint, what you own and how it is infringed. We will review it and act as the law requires.
15.4 We may suspend accounts that repeatedly infringe others' rights.
16. Fees and payments
16.1 Free and paid features. The features listed in Section 16.6 are free. Others need a paid subscription, and some use credits (Section 16.4). We show you the price before you pay.
16.2 Subscriptions. Before you pay, we show you the price (including GST) and the period the plan covers. Payments are processed by Razorpay. Plans do not renew automatically: we never charge you again without your action, and when your plan ends you can buy a new one. Payments are not refundable once the period you paid for has started, except as set out in Section 20.2 or where the law requires.
16.3 Advocates' free period. Approved advocates can use the Platform free for 2 months from the date their account is first approved. After that, a paid subscription is needed for everything except the free features in Section 16.6. Lawyers and paralegals do not get this 2-month free period.
16.4 Credits. Some features, such as AI drafting, case updates from eCourts, some PDF downloads and, when available, in-app calls, use credits. The app shows how many credits each one uses; other features do not use credits. You can add money to your wallet in the app, through Razorpay, and use your wallet balance to buy credits. We may also give you free credits, for example when you register. Your wallet balance and credits can be used only on the Platform. They cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred to another user, and they are not refundable, except as set out in Section 20.2 or where the law requires. Credits do not expire at present; if we introduce an expiry, we will tell you in advance. We may change the credits we give or the credits a feature uses, and we may correct credits that were added or used in error. Any cashback is added as credits under the rules shown in the app.
16.5 Students. Students get free access to the internship module (Section 8D). We may ask for proof of student status, and may change or end this free access at any time.
16.6 What you can use without a subscription. Without a paid subscription, you can use:
- (a) verified advocates (after the free period in Section 16.3): Legal Network, the blog (reading and writing posts), the noticeboard, case management, the courts directory (Section 8A.4), Bare Acts, a basic calendar with your case dates and your own entries, and the internship module;
- (b) lawyers: the same as (a), except Legal Network;
- (c) paralegals: the blog, the noticeboard and case management;
- (d) law students: the internship module (Section 8D), the blog and the noticeboard. A student who becomes a lawyer or an advocate is covered by (a) or (b);
- (e) citizens: the noticeboard, Find a Lawyer, case management, the courts directory (Section 8A.4), the blog and Legal Network with the connections you already have.
Without a subscription, case management covers only the cases already in your account: you cannot add new cases or refresh case updates. Advocates and lawyers can add new cases during the 7 days they have to upload their documents after registering (Section 10.1), and advocates also during the free period in Section 16.3. Citizens cannot add new Legal Network connections. Advocates are listed in Find a Lawyer, and receive call requests from citizens, only during their free period or while they have a paid subscription. Everything else needs a paid subscription. Everyone, with or without a subscription, can contact us for help and complaints (Section 23); subscribers get priority email support.
We may change what is free, what a subscription includes and the free periods at any time (Section 20.2).
